वनं तावत् प्रमथितं प्रकृष्टा राक्षसा हताः ।
बलैकदेशः क्षपितः शेषं दुर्गविनाशनम् ।
।
॥५-५४-३॥
Vanaṃ tāvat pramathitaṃ prakṛṣṭā rākṣasā hatāḥ । Balaikadeśaḥ kṣapitaḥ śeṣaṃ durgavināśanam । । ॥5-54-3॥
Translation
"The grove has been destroyed, the excellent Rakshasas have been killed, and a portion of the army has been decimated. What remains is the destruction of the fortress."

अशोक वाटिका तो उजाड़ दी गई, बड़े-बड़े राक्षस मारे गए और सेना का एक भाग नष्ट कर दिया गया। अब केवल दुर्ग (किले) का विनाश करना शेष है।
English Commentary
Hanuman conducts a quick strategic review of his actions. He lists his achievements chronologically and tactically: destruction of resources (the grove), elimination of key commanders (prakṛṣṭā rākṣasāḥ), and reduction of the standing army (balaikadeśaḥ). Logic dictates the final step to cripple the enemy state is durgavināśanam—destroying the fortifications and the city itself. This verse shows that the burning of Lanka is the planned conclusion of his solitary campaign, ensuring the enemy is struck on all fronts: economic, military, and structural.

हनुमान जी यहाँ अपने कार्यों का लेखा-जोखा (audit) कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने चरणबद्ध तरीके से कार्य किया है: पहले 'वनं प्रमथितं' (संसाधन नष्ट किए), फिर 'प्रकृष्टा राक्षसा हताः' (नेतृत्व और योद्धाओं को मारा), और 'बलैकदेशः क्षपितः' (सैन्य शक्ति को कम किया)। अब तार्किक रूप से अगला और अंतिम चरण 'दुर्गविनाशनम्' (इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर या किले को नष्ट करना) है। यह श्लोक उनकी कार्य-योजना की स्पष्टता और युद्धनीति की पूर्णता को दर्शाता है।
