गृहाद् गृहं राक्षसानामुद्यानानि च वानरः ।
वीक्षमाणो ह्यसन्त्रस्तः प्रासादांश्च चचार सः ।
।
॥५-५४-७॥
Gṛhād gṛhaṃ rākṣasānāmudyānāni ca vānaraḥ । Vīkṣamāṇo hyasantrastaḥ prāsādāṃśca cacāra saḥ । । ॥5-54-7॥
Translation
The monkey (Hanuman) moved from one house to another of the Rakshasas, and to the gardens and palaces, looking around, completely unafraid.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह वानर (हनुमान) राक्षसों के ek घर से दूसरे घर, और उद्यानों तथा महलों को देखते हुए, निडर होकर घूमने लगे।
English Commentary
This verse highlights Hanuman's absolute fearlessness (asantrastaḥ). Despite being in the heart of enemy territory surrounded by powerful demons, he moves with casual confidence. Moving gṛhād gṛhaṃ (from house to house) and inspecting gardens and palaces implies a systematic approach to destruction. He is observing (vīkṣamāṇaḥ) the architecture of Lanka not to admire it, but to dismantle it. His lack of fear serves to terrify the onlookers even more than the fire itself.
हिंदी टीका
यहाँ हनुमान जी की निर्भीकता ('असन्त्रस्तः') पर जोर दिया गया है। इतनी बड़ी शत्रु सेना और शक्तिशाली राक्षसों के बीच, जलती हुई पूँछ के साथ वे ऐसे घूम रहे हैं जैसे अपने ही घर में हों। वे 'गृहाद् गृहं' (एक घर से दूसरे घर) जा रहे हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि उनका विनाशक्रम यादृच्छिक (random) नहीं है, बल्कि वे चुन-चुन कर लंका के वैभवशाली स्थानों, उद्यानों और महलों को निशाना बना रहे हैं। उनकी दृष्टि ('वीक्षमाणो') हर उस चीज़ पर है जिसे नष्ट किया जाना चाहिए।
