मया खलु तदेवेदं रोषदोषात् प्रदर्शितम् ।
प्रथितं त्रिषु लोकेषु कपित्वमनवस्थितम् ।

mayā khalu tadevedaṃ roṣadoṣāt pradarśitam |
prathitaṃ triṣu lokeṣu kapitvamanavasthitam ॥5-55-16॥
Translation
Indeed, through the fault of anger, I have displayed that very monkey-nature—unstable and fickle—which is renowned across the three worlds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
निश्चय ही मैंने रोष (क्रोध) रूपी दोष के कारण वही वानरपन (चंचलता/अस्थिरता) दिखा दिया, जो तीनों लोकों में प्रसिद्ध है।
English Commentary
This verse is a remarkable example of humility and harsh self-criticism. Despite being the wisest of beings, Hanuman attributes his lapse in judgment to his biological nature—'kapitvam' (monkey-ness), which is characterized by fickleness and instability (anavasthitam) across the three worlds. He believes that his inability to control his anger is a manifestation of this innate instability. Instead of blaming circumstances, he takes full responsibility, viewing his loss of control as a regression to primal instincts rather than the conduct of a disciplined sage-warrior.

यह श्लोक हनुमान जी की विनम्रता और कठोर आत्म-समीक्षा का अद्भुत उदाहरण है। यद्यपि वे ज्ञानियों में अग्रगण्य (ज्ञानिनानामग्रगण्यम्) हैं, फिर भी वे अपनी गलती का कारण अपनी 'जातिगत प्रकृति' (कपित्वम्) को मानते हैं। वानर स्वभाव से चंचल माने जाते हैं। हनुमान जी को लगता है कि क्रोध पर नियंत्रण न रख पाना उनकी इसी चंचलता का परिणाम है। वे अपनी दैवीय शक्तियों का अहंकार न करके, एक साधारण वानर की भांति अपनी त्रुटि स्वीकार करते हैं। यह एक महान व्यक्तित्व का लक्षण है जो अपनी कमियों को किसी बाहरी परिस्थिति पर न थोपकर स्वयं पर लेता है।
