सन्दीप्यमानां विध्वस्तां त्रस्तरक्षोगणां पुरीम् ।
अवेक्ष्य हनुमान् लङ्कां चिन्तयामास वानरः ।

Sandīpyamānāṃ vidhvastāṃ trastarakṣogaṇāṃ purīṃ । Avekṣya hanumān laṅkāṃ cintayāmāsa vānaraḥ । । ॥5-55-2॥
Translation
Looking at the city of Lanka, which was burning, destroyed, and filled with terrified Rakshasas, the monkey Hanuman began to reflect.

जलती हुई, ध्वस्त और भयभीत राक्षसों से युक्त उस लंकापुरी को देखकर वानर हनुमान चिंतन करने लगे।
English Commentary
Following the adrenaline of battle comes the moment of reflection. Staring at the burning ruins and the panic he caused, Hanuman shifts from action to contemplation (chintayamasa). This marks a crucial psychological transition in the narrative—from the heat of rage to the coolness of regret and worry, showing Hanuman's depth of character beyond just being a warrior.

क्रोध के वेग में कार्य करने के बाद अब 'पश्चाताप' या 'आत्म-मंथन' का समय है। जब तक युद्ध चल रहा था, हनुमान जी का ध्यान कर्म पर था। अब जब परिणाम सामने है—धु-धु करती लंका—तो उनका विवेक जाग्रत हुआ और वे चिंतन मग्न हो गए। यह एक मनोवैज्ञानिक सत्य है कि क्रोध शांत होने पर ही मनुष्य अपने कृत्यों के परिणाम का सही आकलन कर पाता है।
