न हि धर्मात्मनस्तस्य भार्याममिततेजसः ।
स्वाचारित्राभिगुप्तां तां स्प्रष्टुमर्हति पावकः ।

na hi dharmātmanastasya bhāryāmamitatejasaḥ |
svācāritrābhiguptāṃ tāṃ spraṣṭumarhati pāvakaḥ ॥5-55-24॥
Translation
Indeed, the Fire (Pavaka) does not deserve to (cannot) even touch the wife of that righteous and limitlessly resplendent Rama, she who is protected by her own character.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस धर्मात्मा और अमित तेजस्वी (राम) की पत्नी को, जो अपने ही चरित्र से सुरक्षित हैं, अग्निदेव स्पर्श करने के योग्य भी नहीं हैं (जलाना तो दूर की बात है)।
English Commentary
Hanuman reinforces the protective power of righteousness. Sita is protected by her 'svācāritra' (own character/conduct). The verse connects her safety to her relationship with Rama, who is 'amitatejas' (of limitless power). The argument is that the Fire God (Pavaka), who witnesses all deeds, recognizes the supreme virtue of Rama's wife and therefore "does not deserve" (is unable) to harm her. It illustrates the belief that cosmic elements respect and obey those who are steadfast in Dharma and personal integrity.

यहाँ हनुमान जी राम और सीता दोनों के 'तेज' को याद कर रहे हैं। सीता जी की सुरक्षा किसी बाहरी कवच से नहीं, बल्कि 'स्वाचारित्राभिगुप्तां' (अपने स्वयं के चरित्र/आचरण द्वारा रक्षित) है। अग्नि को 'पावक' (पवित्र करने वाला) कहा जाता है, और सीता स्वयं पवित्रता की मूर्ति हैं। अतः अग्नि भी सीता के प्रभाव के सामने नतमस्तक है। यह भारतीय संस्कृति का एक मूल मंत्र है कि 'धर्म' और 'चरित्र' ही व्यक्ति की सबसे बड़ी सुरक्षा है, जिसे देवता भी लांघ नहीं सकते।
