यद्वा दहनकर्मा ऽयं सर्वत्र प्रभुरव्ययः ।
न मे दहति लाङ्गूलं कथमार्यां प्रधक्ष्यति ।

yadvā dahanakarmā 'yaṃ sarvatra prabhuravyayaḥ |
na me dahati lāṅgūlaṃ kathamāryāṃ pradhakṣyati ॥5-55-27॥
Translation
Or rather, if this Fire, whose nature is to burn, who is lord everywhere and imperishable, does not burn my tail, how will he burn the Noble Lady?
हिंदी अनुवाद
अथवा, यह जलाने का कार्य करने वाला, सर्वत्र प्रभावशाली और अव्यय अग्निदेव जब मेरी पूंछ को ही नहीं जला रहा है, तो आर्या (सीता) को कैसे जलाएगा?
English Commentary
Hanuman moves to empirical evidence. The fire was literally attached to his tail, yet it did not consume it. He realizes that Agni (the Fire God) is Prabhu (master/capable) but is exercising restraint. If the fire, despite being in direct contact with the tail, refused to burn it out of respect for Hanuman's mission, it logic follows a fortiori that it would not dare harm the Noble Lady (Aryam) Sita. The coolness of his tail becomes the physical proof of Sita's safety.

यह श्लोक सबसे ठोस प्रमाण प्रस्तुत करता है। हनुमान जी की पूंछ में ही आग लगाई गई थी, वह लपटों का केंद्र थी, फिर भी वह शीतल रही। यह 'चमत्कार' उन्हें आश्वस्त करता है कि अग्निदेव 'विवेकपूर्ण' व्यवहार कर रहे हैं। वे अंधाधुंध नहीं जला रहे, बल्कि अपनी इच्छा से कार्य कर रहे हैं। यदि पूंछ सुरक्षित है, तो सीता जी का सुरक्षित होना निश्चित है। 'आर्या' शब्द सीता जी के श्रेष्ठ कुल और आचरण का सूचक है।
