दग्धेयं नगरी सर्वा साट्टप्राकारतोरणा ।
जानकी न च दग्धेति विस्मयो ऽद्भुत एव नः ।

dagdheyaṃ nagarī sarvā sāṭṭaprākāratoraṇā |
jānakī na ca dagdheti vismayo 'dbhuta eva naḥ ॥5-55-33॥
Translation
(The Charanas continued) "This entire city with its attics, ramparts, and archways is burnt, yet Janaki is not burnt; this is indeed a miraculous wonder to us."

(चारण कह रहे थे) "यह पूरी नगरी अट्टालिकाओं, चहारदीवारियों (परकोटे) और तोरणों सहित जल गयी है, किन्तु जानकी नहीं जलीं - यह हमारे लिए अत्यंत आश्चर्य की बात है।"
English Commentary
This verse provides the external verification Hanuman desperately needed. The Charanas highlight the contrast: the massive infrastructure of Lanka—attics, walls, arches—is incinerated, yet the fragile human form of Janaki remains untouched. The phrase 'vismayo adbhuta' (miraculous wonder) indicates that this event defies the laws of physics, serving as a testament to Sita's spiritual potency. For the celestial observers, the survival of the righteous amidst total destruction is a divine spectacle worth proclaiming.

यह श्लोक हनुमान जी के लिए अंतिम पुष्टि (Final Confirmation) है। चारण, जो दिव्य दृष्टा हैं, स्पष्ट कर रहे हैं कि विनाश 'सर्वांगीण' (Total) है - ऊँचे महलों (अट्ट) से लेकर बाहरी द्वारों (तोरण) तक सब स्वाहा हो चुका है। परन्तु इस प्रलय के बीच एक 'जीवन' सुरक्षित है। 'विस्मयोऽद्भुत' (अद्भुत आश्चर्य) शब्द का प्रयोग दर्शाता है कि यह घटना प्राकृतिक नियमों के परे है। यह सीता जी के सतीत्व का प्रमाण है कि जिस आग ने पत्थर और लोहे को पिघला दिया, वह सीता के कोमल शरीर को स्पर्श भी न कर सकी।
