धन्यास्ते पुरुषश्रेष्ठा ये बुद्ध्या कोपमुत्थितम् ।
निरुन्धन्ति महात्मानो दीप्तमग्निमिवाम्भसा ।
।
॥५-५५-४॥
Dhanyāste puruṣaśreṣṭhā ye buddhyā kopamutthitam । Nirundhanti mahātmāno dīptamagnimivāmbhasā । । ॥5-55-4॥
Translation
Blessed are those excellent men, those great souls, who by their intellect check their rising anger, just as blazing fire is checked by water.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे पुरुषश्रेष्ठ धन्य हैं और वे ही महात्मा हैं, जो अपने उठे हुए क्रोध को बुद्धि के द्वारा उसी प्रकार रोक देते हैं जैसे प्रदीप्त अग्नि को जल से रोका जाता है।
English Commentary
Hanuman reflects philosophically on the nature of anger. He praises those who can control their kopa (anger) using buddhi (intellect), comparing it to extinguishing fire with water. This introspection reveals his high moral standard; he doesn't justify his rage but critiques his failure to contain it, viewing self-control as the mark of a purushashreshtha (best among men).

यह श्लोक 'क्रोध प्रबंधन' (Anger Management) पर वाल्मीकि रावण का एक महत्वपूर्ण उपदेश है। हनुमान जी स्वयं की निंदा करते हुए उन लोगों की प्रशंसा कर रहे हैं जो क्रोध को जीत लेते हैं। वे मानते हैं कि क्रोध अग्नि के समान है और विवेक (बुद्धि) जल के समान। जिसने विवेक से क्रोध को बुझा दिया, वही सच्चा महात्मा है। हनुमान जी को लग रहा है कि वे इस परीक्षा में असफल हो गए।
