क्रुद्धः पापं न कुर्यात् कः क्रुद्धो हन्याद् गुरूनपि ।
क्रुद्धः परुषया वाचा नरः साधूनधिक्षिपेत् ।
।
॥५-५५-५॥
Kruddhaḥ pāpaṃ na kuryāt kaḥ kruddho hanyād gurūnapi । Kruddhaḥ paruṣayā vācā naraḥ sādhūnadhikṣipet । । ॥5-55-5॥
Translation
What sin would an angry person not commit? An angry person might even kill his elders (gurus). An angry man might insult virtuous people with harsh words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
क्रोध में भरा हुआ कौन मनुष्य पाप नहीं करता? क्रोधी व्यक्ति गुरुजनों का भी वध कर सकता है। क्रोधित मनुष्य कठोर वाणी द्वारा साधु पुरुषों का भी अपमान कर सकता है।
English Commentary
Continuing his regret, Hanuman enumerates the evils of unchecked rage. He posits that anger is the gateway to all sins (papam). It blinds a person so completely that they might commit sacrilege like killing mentors (gurun) or insulting the saintly. This general truth is applied to his specific situation—he fears his anger has led him to commit the unthinkable sin of harming Sita.

यहाँ क्रोध के दुष्प्रभावों का वर्णन है। क्रोध मनुष्य के विवेक को हर लेता है (नष्ट कर देता है), जिससे वह उचित-अनुचित का भेद भूल जाता है। हनुमान जी सोच रहे हैं कि क्रोध के वशीभूत होकर उन्होंने भी पाप कर दिया है—सीता जी को खतरे में डालकर। यह श्लोक बताता है कि क्रोध में मनुष्य जघन्य से जघन्य अपराध (गुरु हत्या, साधु अपमान) भी कर सकता है।
