स मारुत इवाकाशं मारुतस्यात्मसम्भवः ।
प्रपेदे हरिशार्दूलो दक्षिणादुत्तरां दिशम् ।
।
॥५-५६-२५॥
Sa māruta ivākāśaṃ mārutasyātmasambhavaḥ । Prapede hariśārdūlo dakṣiṇāduttarāṃ diśam । । ॥5-56-25॥
Translation
Like the wind itself, that son of the Wind God, the tiger among monkeys, entered the sky, moving from the southern to the northern direction.

वानरों में श्रेष्ठ (हरिशार्दूल) और वायु से उत्पन्न वे हनुमान, वायु के समान ही दक्षिण दिशा से उत्तर दिशा की ओर आकाश में प्रविष्ट हुए।
English Commentary
Valmiki reinforces the elemental connection between Hanuman and the Wind God (Maruta). He enters the sky like the wind. This simile suggests effortlessness and natural belonging; just as wind belongs in the sky, so does Hanuman in this moment. The transition from the solid earth to the ethereal sky is marked by his swift movement from South to North.

यहाँ उपमा अलंकार का सुंदर प्रयोग है—'मारुत इव' (वायु की तरह)। हनुमान जी न केवल वायु पुत्र हैं, बल्कि उनकी गति और शैली भी वायु जैसी ही है। 'हरिशार्दूल' का अर्थ है 'वानरों में शेर', जो उनकी श्रेष्ठता दर्शाता है। वे आकाश मार्ग में ऐसे समा गए जैसे हवा आकाश में बहती है। यह श्लोक उनकी यात्रा के आरम्भ का आधिकारिक घोषणा पत्र है।
