अतिप्रमाणा बलिनो दीप्तजिह्वा महाविषाः ।
निपीडितशिरोग्रीवा व्यवेष्टन्त महाहयः ।

Atipramāṇā balino dīptajihvā mahāviṣāḥ । Nipīḍitaśirogrīvā vyaveṣṭanta mahāhayaḥ । । ॥5-56-30॥
Translation
Huge, powerful, highly venomous snakes with darting tongues rolled about in agony, their heads and necks being crushed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
विशाल आकार वाले, बलवान, लपलपाती जीभ वाले और महाविषैले सर्प (महाहयः), अपने सिर और गर्दन के दब जाने के कारण तड़पने (लोट-पोट होने) लगे।
English Commentary
Even the most lethal creatures are rendered helpless. The snakes, described with terrifying attributes—flashing tongues (Diptajihva) and potent poison—are physically crushed. The specific mention of their heads and necks (Shiro-griva) being compressed emphasizes the crushing weight of the sinking mountain. Vyaveshtanta vividly captures the writhing motion of snakes in distress.
हिंदी टीका
पाताल या बिलों में रहने वाले साँपों की दुर्दशा का वर्णन है। ये कोई साधारण साँप नहीं, बल्कि 'अतिप्रमाण' (huge size) और 'महाविष' (highly venomous) वाले थे। लेकिन जब पर्वत ही धंसने लगा, तो उनके बिल नष्ट हो गए और वे पत्थरों के बीच दब गए। 'व्यवेष्टन्त' का अर्थ है दर्द से छटपटाना या लिपटना। शक्ति के सामने विष या फुफकार काम नहीं आती।
