दशयोजनविस्तारस्त्रिंशद्योजनमुच्छ्रितः ।
धरण्यां समतां यातः स बभूव धराधरः ।
।
॥५-५६-३३॥
Daśayojanavistārastriṃśadyojanamucchritaḥ । Dharaṇyāṃ samatāṃ yātaḥ sa babhūva dharādharaḥ । । ॥5-56-33॥
Translation
That mountain, which was ten Yojanas in width and thirty Yojanas in height, became level with the earth.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह पर्वत जो दस योजन चौड़ा और तीस योजन ऊँचा था, (दबकर) पृथ्वी के बराबर (समतल) हो गया।
English Commentary
Valmiki quantifies the impact to remove ambiguity. A structure of massive proportions—30 Yojanas high (approx. 240-360 km in ancient metrics) and 10 wide—is reduced to zero elevation relative to the ground (Samatam yatah). This signifies that the entire mass of the mountain was utilized as a launching pad, absorbing the recoil of the jump. It effectively disappears from the skyline, serving as a testament to the kinetic energy released by Hanuman.

वाल्मीकि जी यहाँ विनाश के पैमाने (scale of destruction) को आंकड़ों (data) के साथ प्रस्तुत करते हैं। 30 योजन ऊँचाई (प्राचीन माप, 1 योजन ≈ 8-12 किमी) वाला पहाड़ ज़मीन के बराबर हो गया! इसका मतलब है कि पूरा पहाड़ ज़मीन के अंदर धंस गया। 'धरण्यां समतां यातः'—अब वहां कोई पहाड़ नहीं, बस समतल मैदान है। हनुमान जी की उड़ान के लिए आवश्यक ऊर्जा (Potential Energy for takeoff) इसी दबाव से उत्पन्न हुई थी।
