निशम्य नदतो नादं वानरास्ते समन्ततः ।
बभूवुरुत्सुकाः सर्वे सुहृद्दर्शनकाङ्क्षिणः ।
।
॥५-५७-२२॥
Niśamya nadato nādaṃ vānarāste samantataḥ । Babhūvurutsukāḥ sarve suhṛddarśanakāṅkṣiṇaḥ । । ॥5-57-22॥
Translation
Hearing the roar of the roaring one, all those monkeys everywhere became excited, longing to see their friend.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस गरजते हुए वानर का नाद सुनकर, वे सभी वानर चारों ओर से अपने मित्र (हनुमान) के दर्शन की इच्छा से उत्सुक हो उठे।
English Commentary
This verse captures the collective reaction to the signal. The transition is immediate: from passive dejection to active excitement (Utsukah). The repetition of the desire to see their friend (Suhrud-darshana) emphasizes the bond between them. They are not just soldiers awaiting a report; they are friends awaiting the safe return of a brother. The atmosphere shifts from somber silence to chaotic, joyful anticipation as they scramble to get a better view.
