Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तेषामशीतिसाहस्रं शूलमुद्गरपाणिनाम् ।
मया तस्मिन् वनोद्देशे परिघेण निषूदितम् ।
।
॥५-५८-११४॥
Teṣāmaśītisāhasraṃ śūlamudgarapāṇinām । Mayā tasmin vanoddeśe parigheṇa niṣūditam । । ॥5-58-114॥
Translation
Eighty thousand of them, wielding spears and clubs in their hands, were killed by me in that part of the forest using an iron bar (parigha).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हाथ में शूल और मुद्गर धारण किए हुए उन अस्सी हजार (80,000) राक्षसों को मैंने उस वन के एक भाग में परिघ (लोहे की छड़/सांकल) से मार गिराया।
English Commentary
This verse illustrates Hanuman's immense martial prowess. Single-handedly, he annihilated 80,000 armed warriors. His choice of weapon, a parigha (a massive iron bar usually used to bolt city gates), demonstrates his immense strength and resourcefulness. He turned the infrastructure of the vatika into a weapon against its defenders. The number 80,000 signifies the scale of the battle and confirms that this was a full-scale massacre of the first wave.

यह हनुमान जी के अतुलनीय पराक्रम का परिचय है। अकेले हनुमान ने 80,000 प्रशिक्षित योद्धाओं का संहार किया। 'परिघ' (मुख्य द्वार को बंद करने वाली भारी लोहे की छड़) का हथियार के रूप में उपयोग करना हनुमान जी की समय-सूचकता और बल को दर्शाता है। उन्होंने अपने वानर स्वभाव (वृक्ष/पत्थर) के साथ-साथ राक्षसों के हथियारों और वास्तु का भी उपयोग अपने पक्ष में किया।
