तमहं बलसम्पन्नं राक्षसं रणकोविदम् ।
परिघेणातिघोरेण सूदयामि सहानुगम् ।

Tamahaṃ balasampannaṃ rākṣasaṃ raṇakovidam । Parigheṇātighoreṇa sūdayāmi sahānugam । । ॥5-58-118॥
Translation
I killed that powerful demon, who was an expert in the art of war, along with his followers, using a terrible iron bar (Parigha).
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैने उस बलवान और युद्धकला में निपुण राक्षस को उसके अनुचरों (साथियों) सहित एक अत्यंत भयानक परिघ (लोहे की गदा/छड़) से मार गिराया।
English Commentary
Hanuman describes the ease with which he dispatched a formidable opponent. Despite Jambumalin being 'Ranakovida' (expert in war) and fully armed, Hanuman utilized a generic 'Parigha' (a heavy iron club or latch from the archway) to destroy him and his retinue. This emphasizes Hanuman's raw physical strength over conventional weaponry. The phrase 'killed along with his followers' illustrates the comprehensive nature of Hanuman's counter-attack; it was a total rout of the enemy unit.

हनुमान जी यहाँ अपनी युद्ध शैली का परिचय देते हैं। यद्यपि जम्बुमाली 'रणकोविद' (युद्ध विद्या का पंडित) था और सशस्त्र था, हनुमान जी ने केवल एक 'परिघ' (मंदिर के द्वार की अर्गला या लोहे की छड़) का उपयोग करके उसे और उसकी पूरी सेना को नष्ट कर दिया। यह हनुमान के बाहुबल और कामचलाऊ हथियारों को घातक अस्त्रों में बदलने की क्षमता को सिद्ध करता है। 'सूदयामि' शब्द का प्रयोग पूर्ण विनाश को दर्शाता है, जिसका अर्थ है कि शत्रु का कोई भी अवशेष नहीं बचा।
