रामदूतं च मां विद्धि सुग्रीवसचिवं कपिम् ।
सो ऽहं दूत्येन रामस्य त्वत्सकाशमिहागतः ।
।
॥५-५८-१३३॥
Rāmadūtaṃ ca māṃ viddhi sugrīvasacivaṃ kapim । So 'haṃ dūtyena rāmasya tvatsakāśamihāgataḥ । । ॥5-58-133॥
Translation
Know me as the messenger of Rama and the minister of Sugriva, the Vanara. I have come into your presence here on an embassy (mission) for Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मुझे राम का दूत और सुग्रीव का सचिव (मंत्री) वानर समझो। मैं राम के दूत-कार्य (संदेश) के कारण तुम्हारे पास यहाँ आया हूँ।
English Commentary
Having established his lineage, Hanuman now establishes his diplomatic credentials. He identifies as "Rama Duta" (Rama's messenger) and "Sugriva Sachiva" (Sugriva's minister). This formal declaration is crucial because, in ancient warfare codes, a messenger (Duta) is inviolable. By positioning himself as an envoy representing two sovereigns (Rama and King Sugriva), he shifts the context from an intruder to a diplomat, demanding the audience and protection due to an emissary.

अपना व्यक्तिगत परिचय देने के बाद, हनुमान जी अब अपना आधिकारिक पद (Official Designation) बताते हैं। 'रामदूत' और 'सुग्रीवसचिव'—ये दोनों पद उन्हें 'दूत अवध्य है' (Diplomatic Immunity) का संरक्षण देते हैं। वे रावण को स्पष्ट करते हैं कि यह व्यक्तिगत लड़ाई नहीं है, बल्कि दो राजाओं (राम और सुग्रीव) के बीच का मामला है और वे केवल एक माध्यम हैं। यह रावण को विवश करता है कि वह एक राजा के संदेश को सुने और दूत को मारने से पहले धर्म का विचार करें।
