पक्षवन्तः पुरा पुत्र बभूवुः पर्वतोत्तमाः ।
छन्दतः पृथिवीं चेरुर्बाधमानाः समन्ततः ।

Pakṣavantaḥ purā putra babhūvuḥ parvatottamāḥ । Chandataḥ pṛthivīṃ cerurbādhamānāḥ samantataḥ । । ॥5-58-14॥
Translation
'O Son! In ancient times, the great mountains had wings. They used to roam the earth at will, causing trouble (fear) everywhere.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे पुत्र! प्राचीन काल में श्रेष्ठ पर्वतों के पंख हुआ करते थे। वे अपनी इच्छा से सारी पृथ्वी पर उड़ते थे और सब ओर बाधा (भय) उत्पन्न करते थे।
English Commentary
Mainaka provides the mythological context to explain his bond with Vayu. He refers to a primal age when mountains were avine and mobile ('had wings'). Their unchecked movement caused chaos and fear across the earth. This backstory sets the stage for the conflict with Indra and explains why Mainaka was in danger, necessitating Vayu's intervention. It turns the narrative into a history lesson relevant to Hanuman's heritage.

मैनाक अब पुरानी कथा (Flashback) सुनाते हैं ताकि हनुमान जी को अपनी कृतज्ञता का कारण बता सकें। पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार, सतयुग में पर्वतों के पंख होते थे और वे उड़कर कहीं भी बैठ जाते थे, जिससे जन-धन की हानि होती थी। 'बाधमानाः' शब्द बताता है कि उनका उड़ना ऋषियों और प्राणियों के लिए कष्टकारी था। यह संदर्भ इसलिए दिया जा रहा है ताकि आगे इंद्र और वायु की भूमिका स्पष्ट की जा सके।
