तेन प्रस्थापितस्तुभ्यं समीपमिह धर्मतः ।
वानराणां प्रभावो हि न केन विदितः पुरा ।
देवतानां सकाशं च ये गच्छन्ति निमन्त्रिताः ।

Tena prasthāpitastubhyaṃ samīpamiha dharmataḥ . Vānarāṇāṃ prabhāvo hi na kena viditaḥ purā . Devatānāṃ sakāśaṃ ca ye gacchanti nimantritāḥ .. 5.58.142 .. ॥5-58-142॥
Translation
I have been sent to you by him (Sugriva) in accordance with righteousness. Indeed, to whom is the power of the Vanaras not known from earlier times? We go even to the presence of gods when invited.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन्हीं (सुग्रीव) ने मुझे धर्मपूर्वक तुम्हारे पास भेजा है। वानरों का प्रभाव पहले किसे ज्ञात नहीं है? हम तो निमंत्रित होने पर देवताओं के पास भी जाते हैं।
English Commentary
Hanuman emphasizes the legitimacy and prestige of his mission. By stating he was sent "Dharmatah" (righteously/according to Dharma), he positions the Vanara alliance as the moral authority. He counters Ravana’s dismissal of monkeys by reminding him of their ancient fame and divine connections—that they interact with gods. This is a psychological tactic to unsettle Ravana, who prides himself on his dominance over the gods. Hanuman asserts that he is not a mere intruder but a representative of a power that commands respect even in the celestial realms.

हनुमान जी रावण को याद दिला रहे हैं कि वानर कोई साधारण वन्य प्राणी नहीं हैं। 'धर्मतः' शब्द का प्रयोग महत्वपूर्ण है; यह दर्शाता है कि राम और सुग्रीव का पक्ष धर्म का है, जबकि रावण अधर्म के मार्ग पर है। हनुमान जी कहते हैं कि वानरों की शक्ति और पहुँच इतनी है कि वे देवताओं की सभाओं में भी आमंत्रित किए जाते हैं। यह कथन रावण के उस भ्रम को तोड़ने के लिए था कि वानर तुच्छ हैं। यह हनुमान जी के उच्च कुल और वानर जाति की दिव्य पृष्ठभूमि को भी रेखांकित करता है।
