Tatastasya vacaḥ śrutvā pucchaṃ samantataḥ . Veṣṭitaṃ śaṇavalkaiśca jīrṇaiḥ kārpāsajaiḥ paṭaiḥ .. 5.58.150 .. ॥5-58-150॥
Translation
Then, hearing his words, they wrapped my tail all around with jute fibers and old tattered cotton clothes.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उसका (रावण का) वचन सुनकर, (राक्षसों ने) मेरी पूंछ को सन की रस्सियों (वल्कल) और फटे-पुराने सूती कपड़ों से चारों ओर से लपेट दिया।
English Commentary
Hanuman details the process of his tail being swathed in oil-soaked rags and jute fibers ("Shanavalkaih"). The demons used old, tattered cotton cloths ("Jirnaih karpasajaih pataih").
