अहं तु मोक्षितस्तस्मात्तव पित्रा महात्मना ।
मारुतेन तदा वत्स प्रक्षिप्तो ऽस्मि महार्णवे ।

Ahaṃ tu mokṣitastasmāttava pitrā mahātmanā । Mārutena tadā vatsa prakṣipto 'smi mahārṇave । । ॥5-58-16॥
Translation
'But I was saved from that (fate) by your high-souled father. O dear child, at that time, the Wind God blew me away and cast me into the great ocean.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वत्स! उस समय तुम्हारे महात्मा पिता वायुदेव ने मुझे उस संकट से बचाया और वेग से उड़ाकर मुझे इस महासागर में डाल दिया।
English Commentary
Mainaka reveals the core reason for his interference: gratitude. Vayu, Hanuman's father, acted as a savior by blowing Mainaka into the sanctuary of the ocean before Indra's thunderbolt could strike. By calling Hanuman Vatsa (child/dear one), Mainaka connects the past favor of the father to the present affection for the son. He explains that he owes his very integrity (his wings) to Hanuman's lineage.
हिंदी टीका
यहाँ मैनाक वायुदेव के प्रति अपना ऋण स्वीकार करते हैं। जब इंद्र वज्र चला रहे थे, तब वायु ने अपनी तीव्र गति से मैनाक को उड़ाकर समुद्र में छिपा दिया, जिससे उनके पंख कटने से बच गए। 'वत्स' (प्यारे बच्चे) संबोधन पुनः आत्मीयता दर्शाता है। मैनाक यह स्पष्ट कर रहे हैं कि उनका अस्तित्व हनुमान जी के पिता की कृपा का ही फल है, इसलिए वे हनुमान जी की सेवा करना चाहते हैं।
