एतच्छ्रुत्वा वचस्तस्य मैनाकस्य महात्मनः ।
कार्यमावेद्य तु गिरेरुद्यतं च मनो मम ।

Etacchrutvā vacastasya mainākasya mahātmanaḥ । Kāryamāvedya tu girerudyataṃ ca mano mama । । ॥5-58-18॥
Translation
Hearing these words of the high-souled Mainaka, I informed the mountain about the (urgency of the) task and the readiness (eagerness) of my mind.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महात्मा मैनाक के ये वचन सुनकर, मैंने उस पर्वत को अपने कार्य (की गंभीरता) और अपने मन की तत्परता के बारे में बताया।
English Commentary
Hanuman responds with perfect diplomatic balance. He acknowledges Mainaka's noble intent (Mahatmanah) but firmly reiterates his mission parameters. He explains that his mind is Udyatam (engaged/ready/urgent) for the task at hand. He conveys that while he appreciates the gesture, the urgency of Rama's work does not permit him the luxury of a break. It is a polite but firm refusal of hospitality in favor of duty.
हिंदी टीका
हनुमान जी ने मैनाक के प्रेम का सम्मान किया, लेकिन अपने लक्ष्य से नहीं डिगे। उन्होंने 'कार्यमावेद्य'—अर्थात् राम-कार्य की महत्ता और 'उद्यतं च मनो मम'—अर्थात् रुकने की असमर्थता व्यक्त की। यह श्लोक सिखाता है कि प्रेम और सत्कार का सम्मान करते हुए भी कर्तव्य को सर्वोपरि रखना चाहिए। हनुमान जी ने विनम्रता से आतिथ्य अस्वीकार कर दिया क्योंकि समय कम था।
