मम भक्षः प्रदिष्टस्त्वममरैर्हरिसत्तम ।
अतस्त्वां भक्षयिष्यामि विहितस्त्वं चिरस्य मे ।

Mama bhakṣaḥ pradiṣṭastvamamarairharisattama । Atastvāṃ bhakṣayiṣyāmi vihitastvaṃ cirasya me । । ॥5-58-22॥
Translation
"O best of monkeys, you have been allotted as my food by the immortals (gods). Therefore, I shall eat you. You have been ordained to me after a long time."

"हे वानरश्रेष्ठ! देवताओं ने तुम्हें मेरा भोजन निर्दिष्ट (तय) किया है। इसलिए मैं तुम्हें खाऊंगी। बहुत समय बाद तुम मुझे (भोजन रूप में) प्राप्त हुए हो।"
English Commentary
Surasa presents a tricky dilemma. She claims divine sanction for her action, stating that the gods themselves gifted Hanuman to her as food. This creates a conflict for Hanuman: to fight her is to defy the gods, but to submit is to fail Rama. This was not a random attack but a pre-ordained test. The phrase 'after a long time' adds pressure, suggesting she is hungry and unwilling to negotiate.

सुरसा ने स्पष्ट किया कि हनुमान को खाने का अधिकार उसे स्वयं 'अमरैर्' (देवताओं) ने दिया है। यह एक धर्म-संकट था। यदि हनुमान लड़ते हैं, तो देवताओं के वरदान का अपमान होता है, और यदि समर्पण करते हैं, तो राम-कार्य अधूरा रह जाता है। सुरसा ने इसे अपना अधिकार बताया। यह स्थिति बल से नहीं, बल्कि कूटनीति से सुलझानी थी। हनुमान जी के लिए यह परीक्षा थी कि वे दैवीय नियमों का सम्मान करते हुए अपना कार्य कैसे सिद्ध करते हैं।
