रामो दाशरथिः श्रीमान् प्रविष्टो दण्डकावनम् ।
लक्ष्मणेन सह भ्रात्रा सीतया च परन्तपः ।

Rāmo dāśarathiḥ śrīmān praviṣṭo daṇḍakāvanam । Lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā sītayā ca parantapaḥ । । ॥5-58-24॥
Translation
"The glorious Rama, son of Dasharatha, entered the Dandaka forest along with his brother Lakshmana and Sita. He is the scorcher of foes."

"दशरथपुत्र श्रीमान् राम अपने भाई लक्ष्मण और सीता के साथ दंडक वन में प्रवेश हुए थे। वे शत्रुओं को तपाने वाले (परंतप) हैं।"
English Commentary
Hanuman starts narrating the context of his mission. By invoking Rama's lineage and situation, he tries to appeal to Surasa’s sense of Dharma. He identifies Rama as Parantapa (scorcher of enemies), subtly implying that obstructing Rama's cause invites destruction. This is a classic diplomatic tactic: explain the righteousness of the cause to win safe passage.

हनुमान जी सुरसा को राम-कथा सुनाते हैं। उनका उद्देश्य सुरसा के भीतर दया और धर्म को जगाना है। वे परिचय देते हैं कि वे किसके दूत हैं। 'परन्तपः' विशेषण का प्रयोग करके वे यह भी संकेत देते हैं कि राम शत्रुओं का नाश करने में समर्थ हैं, अर्थात् यदि सुरसा ने उन्हें रोका तो वह भी राम की शत्रु मानी जा सकती है। यह विनय के साथ एक सूक्ष्म चेतावनी भी है।
