आगमिष्यामि ते वक्त्रं सत्यं प्रतिश्रृणोमि ते ।

Āgamiṣyāmi te vaktraṃ satyaṃ pratiśṛṇomi te । । ॥5-58-27॥
Translation
"...I will come (back) to your mouth. I promise you this in truth."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"...मैं (लौटकर) आपके मुख में आ जाऊंगा, यह मैं आपसे सत्य प्रतिज्ञा करता हूँ।"
English Commentary
This verse encapsulates the supreme integrity of Hanuman. He offers himself as a sacrifice to satisfy Surasa's hunger, but on deferred terms. His pledge (Satyam pratishrunomi) is absolute. He is not trying to escape death, but trying to secure enough life to finish his duty. It highlights the ethos where duty (Dharma) is valued higher than life itself.
हिंदी टीका
यह हनुमान जी की सत्यनिष्ठा की पराकाष्ठा है। वे प्राण बचाने की भीख नहीं मांग रहे, बस 'कर्तव्य' पूरा करने का समय मांग रहे हैं। 'सत्यं प्रतिश्रृणोमि' (मैं सत्य प्रतिज्ञा करता हूँ) कहना कोई छोटी बात नहीं है। रघुकुल के दूत होने के नाते उनका वचन पत्थर की लकीर है। यह श्लोक सिद्ध करता है कि हनुमान जी के लिए शरीर नश्वर है, पर राम-काज शाश्वत है।
