बाढमित्येव तां वाणीं प्रत्यगृह्णामहं ततः ।
आस्य प्रमाणादधिकं तस्याः कायमपूरयम् ।
तस्याश्चास्यं महद्भीमं वर्धते मम भक्षणे ।

Bāḍham-ityeva tāṃ vāṇīṃ pratyagṛhṇām-ahaṃ tataḥ . Āsya pramāṇād-adhikaṃ tasyāḥ kāyam-apūrayam . Tasyāś-cāsyaṃ mahad-bhīmaṃ vardhate mama bhakṣaṇe .. 5.58.40 .. ॥5-58-40॥
Translation
Saying "Agreed" (Very well), I accepted her words. I then expanded my body larger than the measure of her mouth. Her huge and terrible mouth also grew [correspondingly] to eat me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैंने "बहुत अच्छा (एवमस्तु)" कहकर उसकी बात स्वीकार की। तब मैंने अपने शरीर को उसके मुख के आकार से भी अधिक बड़ा कर लिया। मुझे खाने के लिए उसका भयानक मुख भी (मेरे शरीर के साथ) बढ़ने लगा।
English Commentary
Hanuman employs a brilliant strategic counter-move. Instead of fleeing or fighting externally, he seemingly capitulates with "Bāḍham" (Agreed/Very well). This agreement is a feign to draw her in. He then utilizes his siddhis (mystic powers) to expand his body (kāyam apūrayam) beyond the size of her mouth. In response, driven by greed and the necessity to swallow him, Simhika expands her mouth even further. This is a battle of dimensions. Hanuman forces her to stretch herself to her breaking point. It demonstrates the martial principle of adaptability—using the opponent's desire (to eat) to create a vulnerability (an over-extended, open mouth), setting the stage for the final strike.

यहाँ हनुमान जी की अद्भुत रणनीति (कूटनीति) दिखाई देती है। उन्होंने विरोध करने के बजाय "बाढम्" (ठीक है) कहा। यह शत्रु को भ्रमित करने की चाल थी। सिंहिका को लगा हनुमान समर्पण कर रहे हैं। परन्तु, जैसे ही उसने मुँह खोला, हनुमान जी ने अपना शरीर उसके मुख से भी बड़ा कर लिया। यह 'गरिमा' सिद्धि का प्रयोग है। जैसे-जैसे हनुमान जी बढ़ते गए, सिंहिका को भी अपना मुँह और बड़ा करना पड़ा। हनुमान जी ने उसे उस सीमा तक खींचा जहाँ उसका शरीर असुरक्षित हो जाए। यह श्लोक सिखाता है कि कभी-कभी शत्रु के बल का प्रयोग उसी के विरुद्ध करना चाहिए। हनुमान जी ने उसे अपनी शर्तों पर खेल खेलने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया।
