Tatra praviśataś-cāpi kalpānta-ghana-sannibhā . Aṭṭahāsaṃ vimuñcantī nārī kāpy-utthitā puraḥ .. 5.58.47 .. ॥5-58-47॥
Translation
Even as I was entering there, a woman resembling the clouds at the time of universal dissolution (Kalpanta), laughing loudly, rose up before me.

वहाँ प्रवेश करते समय ही, प्रलयकाल के बादलों के समान काली और भयानक, जोर-जोर से अट्टहास करती हुई एक नारी मेरे सामने उठ खड़ी हुई।
English Commentary
Hanuman encounters the personified defense of the city, Lankini. She is described with terrifying imagery: resembling the dark, ominous clouds of the apocalypse (kalpanta-ghana). Her rising up with a loud, mocking laugh (aṭṭahāsaṃ) signifies the formidable metaphysical barrier protecting Ravana's citadel. She is not just a guard but the embodied fortune and security of Lanka. This verse sets the stage for a confrontation not just between a Vanara and a guard, but between the force of Dharma (Hanuman) and the protective energy of Adharma.

लंका की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था इतनी सुदृढ़ थी कि वहां एक दैवीय शक्ति पहरा दे रही थी। हनुमान जी उसका वर्णन 'कल्पान्त-घन-सन्निभा' (प्रलय के समय के काले बादलों जैसी) के रूप में करते हैं, जो उसके भयानक और विशाल स्वरूप को दर्शाता है। वह साधारण नारी नहीं, बल्कि साक्षात 'लंकिनी' (लंका की अधिष्ठात्री देवी) थी। उसका 'अट्टहास' शत्रु को भयभीत करने के लिए था। जैसे ही हनुमान जी ने मुख्य द्वार से प्रवेश का प्रयास किया, वह एक बाधा बनकर सामने आ गई। यह परीक्षा थी कि क्या हनुमान जी लंका की रक्षा-शक्ति को परास्त कर पाएंगे।
