जिघांसन्तीं ततस्तां तु ज्वलदग्निशिरोरुहाम् ।

Jighāṃsantīṃ tatas-tāṃ tu jvalad-agni-śiroruhām . Savya-muṣṭi-prahāreṇa parājitya subhairavām .. 5.58.48 .. ॥5-58-48॥
Translation
She intended to kill me, and her hair was like blazing fire. However, I defeated that terrible one with a strike of my left fist.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह मुझे मारने की इच्छा कर रही थी और उसके बाल जलती हुई अग्नि के समान थे। तब मैंने उस भयानक नारी को अपने बाएं हाथ के मुक्के के प्रहार से पराजित कर दिया।
English Commentary
Hanuman describes the brief combat. The demoness, with hair like blazing fire, possessed lethal intent (jighāṃsantīm). Hanuman's response demonstrates both his immense power and his adherence to ethical codes. He defeats her with merely a savya-muṣṭi—a left-handed fist strike. In martial terms, utilizing the left (or non-dominant) hand signifies ease and disdain, but morally, it indicates restraint, as killing a woman is prohibited in the code of warriors. He used just enough force to subdue the terrible guardian (subhairavām) without taking her life, effectively breaking the initial seal of Lanka.
हिंदी टीका
हनुमान जी ने यहाँ नारी-धर्म का पालन करते हुए अद्भुत संयम दिखाया। वह राक्षसी उन्हें जान से मारना चाहती थी ('जिघांसन्तीं'), लेकिन हनुमान जी ने उसका वध नहीं किया। उन्होंने केवल 'सव्यमुष्टि' (बाएं हाथ का मुक्का) का प्रयोग किया। शास्त्रों में शत्रु पर बाएं हाथ का प्रहार अनादर या कम शक्ति का प्रतीक माना जाता है; हनुमान जी ने उसे ललकारा नहीं, बस मार्ग से हटाने के लिए दंड दिया। 'ज्वलदग्निशिरोरुहाम्' (अग्नि जैसे बालों वाली) लंकिनी का रूप डरावना था, लेकिन हनुमान जी के एक प्रहार ने ही उसे धराशायी कर दिया, जिससे यह सिद्ध हुआ कि रावण की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था रामदूत के आगे निर्बल है।
