एतच्छ्रुत्वा वचस्तस्य रावणस्य दुरात्मनः ।
उवाच परमक्रुद्धा सीता वचनमुत्तमम् ।

॥५-५८-६९॥
Etacchrutvā vacastasya rāvaṇasya durātmanaḥ । Uvāca paramkruddhā sītā vacanamuttamam । । ॥5-58-69॥
Translation
Hearing those words of the evil-souled Ravana, Sita, filled with intense anger, spoke these excellent words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस दुरात्मा रावण के (धमकी भरे) वचन सुनकर, परम क्रुद्ध हुई सीता ने यह उत्तम वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Sita’s anger described here is not mere emotional turbulence but righteous indignation. Valmiki describes her speech as vacanam-uttamam (excellent words), implying that even in extreme rage, her speech remained rooted in truth and Dharma, unlike Ravana’s incoherent ranting. This moment highlights the strength of her character (Pativrat). Despite being a captive surrounded by enemies, she does not cower; instead, she prepares to rebuke the tyrant, proving that spiritual fortitude far outweighs physical power or intimidation.

माता सीता का यह क्रोध साधारण मानवीय क्रोध नहीं, बल्कि धर्म और सतीत्व के अपमान के विरुद्ध उठी एक ज्वाला है। यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी ने 'वचनमुत्तमम्' (उत्तम वचन) का प्रयोग किया है, जो दर्शाता है कि क्रोध में भी सीता ने मर्यादा नहीं खोई। दुरात्मा रावण के भय और प्रलोभन के सामने, एक अबला नारी के रूप में होते हुए भी, उनका आत्मबल हिमालय की तरह अटल है। यह श्लोक स्पष्ट करता है कि सच्चा साहस शारीरिक बल में नहीं, बल्कि चरित्र की शुद्धता में होता है। सीता जी यहाँ रावण को उसकी औकात दिखाने के लिए तैयार हैं।
