राक्षसाधम रामस्य भार्यममिततेजसः ।
इक्ष्वाकुकुलनाथस्य स्नुषां दशरथस्य च ।
अवाच्यं वदतो जिह्वा कथं न पतिता तव ।
।
॥५-५८-७०॥
Rākṣasādhama rāmasya bhāryāmamitatejasaḥ । Ikṣvākukulanāthasya snuṣāṃ daśarathasya ca । Avācyaṃ vadato jihvā kathaṃ na patitā tava । । ॥5-58-70॥
Translation
O vile demon! How did your tongue not fall off while speaking such unspeakable words to the wife of Rama, who possesses limitless splendor, and the daughter-in-law of Dasharatha, the lord of the Ikshvaku dynasty?
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे नीच राक्षस! अमित तेजस्वी राम की पत्नी और इक्ष्वाकु कुल के स्वामी दशरथ की पुत्रवधू के प्रति ऐसे अवाच्य (न कहने योग्य) शब्द बोलते हुए तेरी जीभ (कटकर) गिर क्यों नहीं गई?
English Commentary
Sita addresses Ravana as Rakshasadhama (lowest among demons). She invokes the lineage of the Ikshvakus and King Dasharatha to highlight the gravity of Ravana’s sin. The rhetorical question regarding his tongue falling off reflects the ancient belief that blasphemy against a chaste woman (Pativrata) is a sin heavy enough to invite immediate physical destruction. By listing her relations, she is not boasting but reminding Ravana that he is insulting a family known for upholding the cosmic order, making his crime unforgivable.

इस श्लोक में सीता जी रावण को 'राक्षसाधम' (राक्षसों में अधम) कहकर सम्बोधित करती हैं। भारतीय संस्कृति में यह मान्यता है कि यदि कोई महासती के प्रति अपशब्द कहता है, तो प्रकृति उसे तत्काल दंड देती है। सीता जी आश्चर्य व्यक्त करती हैं कि राम और दशरथ जैसे महापुरुषों की कुलवधू का अपमान करने पर रावण का शरीर अभी तक नष्ट क्यों नहीं हुआ। यहाँ वे अपने श्वसुर दशरथ और पति राम के यश का स्मरण कर रावण को यह जता रही हैं कि वह किन महान शक्तियों से बैर ले रहा है।
