ततस्ताः सहिताः सर्वा विहताशा निरुद्यमाः ।
परिक्षिप्य समन्तात्तां निद्रावशमुपागताः ।
।
॥५-५८-८२॥
Tatastāḥ sahitāḥ sarvā vihatāśā nirudyamāḥ । Parikṣipya samantāttāṃ nidrāvaśamupāgatāḥ । । ॥5-58-82॥
Translation
Then, all of them, having lost hope and ceased their efforts, surrounded her on all sides and fell under the sway of sleep.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर वे सभी (राक्षसियां) निराश और उद्यमहीन (थक-हार) होकर, उस (सीता) को चारों ओर से घेरकर नींद के वश में हो गईं।
English Commentary
The scene shifts from chaos to stillness. The demonesses, exhausted by their failed attempts to break Sita, succumb to sleep (nidravasham). The term vihatasha (hopeless/disappointed) is key—it shows that their aggressive energy was drained by Sita's passive resistance. While the captors sleep, the captive remains awake, symbolizing the vigilant nature of devotion compared to the lethargy of ignorance and evil.

यह श्लोक एक महत्वपूर्ण दृश्य परिवर्तन है। जो राक्षसियां अभी तक 'काल' बनकर सीता को डरा रही थीं, वे अब स्वयं 'निद्रा' के वश में हैं। 'विहताशा' (निराश होकर) शब्द बताता है कि बुराई की शक्ति, अच्छाई की दृढ़ता के सामने थक गई। सीता जी जाग रही हैं और प्रहरी सो रहे हैं; यह प्रतीकात्मक है कि धर्म कभी सोता नहीं है, जबकि अधर्म आलस्य और अज्ञान (नींद) में डूब जाता है।
