तदेकवासः संवीता रजोध्वस्ता तथैव च ।
शोकसन्तापदीनाङ्गी सीता भर्तृहिते रता ।
।
॥५-५९-२९॥
Tadekavāsaḥ saṃvītā rajodhvastā tathaiva ca । Śokasantāpadīnāṅgī sītā bhartṛhite ratā । । ॥5-59-29॥
Translation
She was wrapped in that single garment and was covered in dust. Her limbs were weak from grief and torment, yet Sita was intent only on the welfare of her husband.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे उसी एक (पुराने) वस्त्र को लपेटे हुए थीं और धूल से सनी हुई थीं। शोक और संताप से उनके अंग दीन (दुर्बल) हो गए थे, फिर भी वह सीता अपने पति के हित में ही लगी हुई थीं।
English Commentary
This verse vividly portrays Sita's ascetic-like existence in captivity. Wearing a single garment for months and covered in dust, she has completely neglected her physical comfort. Her body is withered by grief, yet her mind is described as Bhartrhite rata—intent on her husband's welfare. Even in her deepest suffering, she worries for Rama, not herself. This highlights the selflessness of her love. Hanuman uses this imagery to evoke a sense of urgency and moral duty among the Vanaras to rescue such a noble soul.

यह श्लोक सीता जी की तपस्या का चित्रण है। राजमहल की सुख-सुविधाओं को छोड़कर, वे महीनों से एक ही वस्त्र धारण किए हुए हैं और धूल-धूसरित हैं। यह शारीरिक कष्ट उनके मानसिक संकल्प को नहीं तोड़ पाया। 'भर्तृहिते रता' अत्यंत मार्मिक है—अपनी जान खतरे में होने पर भी, वह केवल राम के हित और उनकी विजय की कामना कर रही हैं। यह निस्वार्थ प्रेम का सर्वोच्च उदाहरण है। हनुमान जी यह बताकर वानरों को प्रेरित कर रहे हैं कि ऐसी देवी का उद्धार करना उनका परम कर्तव्य है।
