English Commentary
This verse acts as a preamble to Hanuman's bold proposal. It highlights the protocol within the Vanara society. Before suggesting a major deviation from the original plan (which was just to search), Hanuman formally seeks the consent (anujnapya) of the elders led by Jambavan. It sets the context: the intelligence gathering is complete ('state of affairs reported'), and now the group stands at a decision point. It shows Hanuman's diplomatic skill in building consensus before making a radical suggestion.

यह और अगला श्लोक एक साथ जुड़े हुए हैं (युग्मक)। हनुमान जी यहाँ शिष्टाचार का पालन करते हुए अपनी योजना रखने से पहले बड़ों (जाम्बवान) से अनुमति मांगते हैं। यद्यपि हनुमान सबसे बलवान हैं, वे मर्यादा नहीं लांघते। 'अस्मिन्नेवंगते कार्ये' का अर्थ है कि अब जब हमें पता है कि सीता कहाँ हैं और रावण कितना शक्तिशाली है, हमें एक नई रणनीति की आवश्यकता है। वे अब केवल समाचार देने वाले दूत की भूमिका से आगे बढ़कर एक योद्धा के रूप में प्रस्ताव रखने जा रहे हैं।
