महा जन समाकीर्णम् ददर्श स महा कपिः ।
विराजमानम् वपुषा गज अश्व रथ सम्कुलम् ॥५-६-१४॥
Mahā jana samākīrṇam dadarśa sa mahā kapiḥ । Virājamānam vapuṣā gaja aśva ratha samkulam ॥ ॥5-6-14॥
Translation
The great monkey (Hanuman) saw that the palace was crowded with many people. It was shining with its own splendor and was teeming with elephants, horses, and chariots.

उस महाकपि (हनुमान) ने देखा कि वह भवन बहुत से लोगों से भरा हुआ था। वह अपने वैभव (वपु) से सुशोभित हो रहा था और वहां हाथी, घोड़े तथा रथों की भीड़ लगी थी।
English Commentary
Hanuman is referred to here as Mahā kapiḥ (The Great Monkey), emphasizing his superior stature among Vanaras as he surveys the enemy's stronghold. He observes a bustling hub of activity, not a quiet residence. The palace grounds are gaja aśva ratha samkulam—congested with the three classical divisions of an ancient army: elephants, horses, and chariots. This confirms that Ravana's palace was also a military headquarters. The phrase virājamānam vapuṣā suggests the structure radiated an aura of dominance and physical splendor. Hanuman’s ability to remain undetected in such a samākīrṇam (crowded) place highlights his mastery over the art of stealth and espionage.

'महाकपिः' शब्द यहाँ हनुमान जी की महानता और उनके वानर रूप में छिपी दिव्य शक्ति को रेखांकित करता है। उन्होंने देखा कि रावण का भवन एकांत नहीं, बल्कि 'महाजन समाकीर्णम्' (विशाल जनसमूह से भरा) था। यह लंका की सैन्य शक्ति का प्रदर्शन है—हाथी, घोड़े और रथों की उपस्थिति दर्शाती है कि रावण हमेशा युद्ध के लिए तत्पर रहता था। 'विराजमानम् वपुषा' का अर्थ है कि भवन का अपना एक भौतिक तेज था, मानो वह कोई जीवित सत्ता हो। इतनी भीड़भाड़ और सुरक्षा के बीच, एक वानर का वहां गुप्त रूप से विचरण करना हनुमान जी की 'सूक्ष्म' और 'लघिमा' सिद्धियों का प्रमाण है। वे शत्रु के बल का आकलन कर रहे हैं।
