गृहाद् गृहम् राक्षसानाम् उद्यानानि च वानरः ।
वीक्षमाणो हि असम्त्रस्तः प्रासादामः च चचार सः ॥५-६-१६॥
Gṛhād gṛham rākṣasānām udyānāni ca vānaraḥ । Vīkṣamāṇo hi asamtrastaḥ prāsādāmaḥ ca cacāra saḥ ॥ ॥5-6-16॥
Translation
That Vanara (Hanuman), completely fearless, wandered about looking at the houses of Rakshasas, one after another, as well as the gardens and palaces.

वह वानर (हनुमान) निडर करके राक्षसों के एक घर से दूसरे घर, बगीचों और महलों को देखता हुआ वहां विचरण करने लगा।
English Commentary
The keyword here is asamtrastaḥ—unfrightened or fearless. Despite being alone in a city of hostile demons, Hanuman moves with absolute confidence. The phrase gṛhād gṛham (from house to house) indicates a systematic search operation. He is not skipping locations; he is meticulously checking residences, gardens (udyānāni), and palaces (prāsādān). This thoroughness is driven by his devotion to Rama and his desperate need to find Sita. The verse paints a picture of a solitary warrior moving swiftly and silently through the lavish but dangerous landscape of Lanka, scrutinizing every structure for a sign of the Divine Mother.

इस श्लोक में हनुमान जी के लिए 'असंन्त्रस्तः' (भयरहित) विशेषण अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। शत्रु के गढ़ में, जहां पग-पग पर मायावी राक्षस हैं, वहां निर्भय होकर घूमना केवल रामदूत ही कर सकते हैं। 'गृहाद् गृहम्' (घर से घर) जाना उनकी गहन खोज को दर्शाता है—वे कोई भी कोना छोड़ना नहीं चाहते। वे केवल घरों को नहीं, बल्कि 'उद्यानानि' (बगीचों) को भी देख रहे हैं क्योंकि सीता जी को कहीं भी छिपाया जा सकता था। यह श्लोक हनुमान जी की तत्परता और कर्तव्यनिष्ठा को उजागर करता है। वे केवल उड़ नहीं रहे, बल्कि 'वीक्षणमानो' (ध्यानपूर्वक देखते हुए) विचरण कर रहे हैं, जो एक कुशल गुप्तचर का लक्षण है।
