रक्तान् श्वेतान् सितांश्चैव हरींश्चैव महाजवान् ॥५-६-३१॥
Raktān śvetān sitāṃś caiva harīṃś caiva mahājavān ॥ ॥5-6-31॥
Translation
(He saw) red, white, and dark horses, as well as tawny horses, possessing great speed.

(वहां उन्होंने) लाल, सफेद और काले रंग के तथा अत्यंत तेज गति वाले घोड़ों को देखा।
English Commentary
This brief line describes the horses in Ravana's stables. The adjectives Raktān (red/bay), Śvetān (white), and Sitān (dark/black) describe the variety of breeds and colors of the warhorses. The term Harīn here specifically refers to horses (derived from Hari which can mean horse, monkey, or green/yellow, but mahājavān or "great speed" contextualizes it to horses). The presence of white horses suggests royal use, while the others indicate a vast cavalry. Hanuman’s observation of these prime animals highlights the logistical readiness of Ravana's army; these are not beasts of burden but high-performance military assets bred for speed and war.

यह श्लोक रावण की अश्वशाला का संक्षिप्त वर्णन करता है। यहाँ 'हरीन्' शब्द का प्रयोग घोड़ों के लिए हुआ है, और 'महाजवान्' (महा वेग वाले) इसकी पुष्टि करता है। रावण के पास विभिन्न वर्णों के घोड़े थे—रक्त (लाल/कत्थई), श्वेत (सफेद), और सित (काला या गहरा रंग)। अच्छे नस्ल के घोड़े किसी भी राजा की शक्ति का प्रतीक होते थे। ये घोड़े केवल वाहन नहीं, बल्कि युद्ध के महत्वपूर्ण अंग थे। हनुमान जी ने इन घोड़ों को देखा, जो संभवतः रावण के रथ में जोते जाने के लिए तैयार थे या अस्तबल में थे। यह लंका के पशु-धन और सैन्य तत्परता का एक और प्रमाण है।
