रूप्य कोप हितैः चित्रैः तोरणैर् हेम भूषितैः ।
विचित्राभिः च कक्ष्याभिर् द्वारैः च रुचिरैर् वृतम् ॥५-६-४॥
rūpya kopa hitaiḥ citraiḥ toraṇair hema bhūṣitaiḥ |
vicitrābhiś ca kakṣyābhir dvāraiś ca rucirair vṛtam ॥5-6-4॥
Translation
That palace was surrounded by wonderful archways inlaid with silver and adorned with gold, by various courtyards, and by beautiful gates.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह भवन चाँदी की पッチकारी (कोप) से युक्त, सोने से विभूषित विचित्र तोरणों (द्वार-मंडपों) से, विविध प्रकार की कक्षाओं (आंगनों) से और सुंदर द्वारों से घिरा हुआ था।

यह श्लोक रावण के भवन की वास्तुकला का विवरण देता है। 'रूप्य कोप हितैः' का अर्थ है चाँदी और अन्य धातुओं का जड़ाऊ काम। 'तोरण' (Archways) सोने से मढ़े हुए थे। भवन में 'विचित्राभिः कक्ष्याभिः' (अनेक प्रकार के कक्ष या प्रांगण) थे, जो उसकी विशालता को बताते हैं। एक के बाद एक कई द्वार और आंगन पार करने पड़ते थे, जो भारतीय दुर्ग निर्माण शैली (Fort architecture) के अनुरूप है। हनुमान जी इन द्वारों और रास्तों का मानचित्रण (mapping) अपने मन में कर रहे हैं ताकि आवागमन में सुविधा हो।
