गज आस्थितैर् महा मातृः शूरैः च विगत श्रमैः ।
उपस्थितम् असम्हार्यैर् हयैः स्यन्दन यायिभिः ॥५-६-५॥
gaja āsthitair mahā mātraiḥ śūraiś ca vigata śramaiḥ |
upasthitam asamhāryair hayaiḥ syandana yāyibhiḥ ॥5-6-5॥
Translation
It was filled with elephant-riders of high rank (Mahamatras) and heroes who were untiring. It was attended by charioteers driving horses that were unstoppable in battle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह स्थान हाथियों पर सवार महापात्रों (महावतों/अधिकारियों) से और थकान रहित शूरवीरों से भरा हुआ था। वहां ऐसे रथ-सवार उपस्थित थे जिनके घोड़ों को (युद्ध में) रोका नहीं जा सकता था (असम्हार्य)।
English Commentary
Here, the focus shifts to the elite mechanized units guarding the palace. 'Mahamatras' refers to high-ranking officials or commanders mounted on war elephants. The soldiers are described as 'vigata śramaiḥ' (free from fatigue), indicating their supernatural stamina or disciplined rotation. The presence of charioteers with 'asamhāryair hayaiḥ' (unstoppable/invincible horses) emphasizes that this is a proactive force ready for instant blitzkrieg, not just static defense. Hanuman is witnessing the cream of the Rakshasa army.

यह श्लोक महल के बाहरी प्रांगण में तैनात सैन्य शक्ति का वर्णन करता है। 'महामात्र' उच्च पदस्थ अधिकारी या महावत होते हैं जो हाथियों को नियंत्रित करते हैं। सैनिक 'विगत श्रमैः' (थकान रहित) हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि वे सदैव तरोताजा और सतर्क रहते हैं, या वे इतने बलशाली हैं कि कभी थकते नहीं। 'असम्हार्यैर् हयैः' (अजेय घोड़ों वाले) रथियों का उल्लेख रावण की सेना की आक्रामकता को दिखाता है। हनुमान जी देख रहे हैं कि यहाँ केवल पैदल प्रहरी नहीं, बल्कि भारी युद्धक मशीनरी (हाथी और रथ) हर समय तैयार है।
