Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
दृश्यैः च परम उदारैः तैः तैः च मृग पक्षिभिः ।
विविधैर् बहु साहस्रैः परिपूर्णम् समन्ततः ॥ ॥५-६-८॥
dṛśyaiḥ ca parama udāraiḥ taiḥ taiḥ ca mṛga pakṣibhiḥ |
vividhair bahu sāhasraiḥ paripūrṇam samantataḥ ॥5-6-8॥
Translation
That (palace) was filled on all sides with thousands of various kinds of animals and birds that were visually delightful, of supreme quality, and highly excellent.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह (भवन) देखने में अत्यंत सुंदर, परम उत्कृष्ट, भाँति-भाँति के तथा हजारों की संख्या में उन-उन मृगों और पक्षियों से सब ओर से परिपूर्ण था।
English Commentary
In this verse, the poet highlights the opulence and aesthetic richness of the location (Ravana's palace or the environs within the Pushpaka Vimana). The use of the adjective parama udāraiḥ (supremely noble or excellent) suggests that the animals and birds present were not ordinary specimens; they were the finest of their species, exotic and visually captivating. The repetition in taiḥ taiḥ implies a comprehensive collection of rare creatures known in the world. The phrase bahu sāhasraiḥ (by the thousands) emphasizes the scale of this collection, reinforcing the grandeur of Ravana’s wealth. The imagery created is one of a space teeming with life and beauty, where nature has been curated to serve the aesthetic pleasure of the lord of Lanka, contributing to the overall Adbhuta Rasa (sentiment of wonder).

इस श्लोक में महर्षि वाल्मीकि रावण के भवन (अथवा पुष्पक विमान के भीतर के कृत्रिम वनों) की समृद्धि और सौंदर्य का वर्णन कर रहे हैं। 'परम उदारैः' विशेषण का प्रयोग यह दर्शाता है कि वहाँ उपस्थित मृग और पक्षी सामान्य नहीं थे, बल्कि वे अपनी जाति में श्रेष्ठ और अत्यंत मनमोहक थे। 'तैः तैः' (उन-उन) पद का द्विरुक्ति प्रयोग यह सूचित करता है कि जो भी प्रसिद्ध और दुर्लभ प्राणी संसार में माने जाते हैं, वे सब वहाँ उपस्थित थे। यह वर्णन रावण के ऐश्वर्य और उसके संग्रह की विशालता को इंगित करता है। यहाँ 'परिपूर्णम्' शब्द से यह ध्वनित होता है कि भवन का कोई भी कोना इन सुंदर जीवों से रहित नहीं था, जिससे वहां का वातावरण अत्यंत जीवंत और प्राकृतिक प्रतीत होता था। यह वर्णन अदभुत रस का पोषक है।
