Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न तावदेषा मतिरक्षमा नो यथा भवान् पश्यति राजपुत्र ।
यथा तु रामस्य मतिर्निविष्टा तथा भवान् पश्यतु कार्यसिद्धम् ।

॥५-६०-७॥
na tāvadeṣā matirakṣamā no yathā bhavān paśyati rājaputra । yathā tu rāmasya matirniviṣṭā tathā bhavān paśyatu kāryasiddhim । । ॥5-60-7॥
Translation
O Prince! This thought of yours is not beyond our capacity (we are indeed capable). However, you should view the success of the mission in accordance with how Rama’s mind is set (his vow and command).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राजपुत्र! जैसा आप विचार कर रहे हैं, हमारी वह बुद्धि असमर्थ नहीं है (अर्थात हम सीता को ला सकते हैं)। परन्तु जिस प्रकार श्रीराम की बुद्धि (प्रतिज्ञा) स्थिर है, आप उसी के अनुसार कार्य की सिद्धि देखें।
English Commentary
Jambavan delicately corrects Angada. He validates the army's strength ("We could do it"), ensuring morale remains high, but pivots to the moral imperative. He reminds Angada that the mission's ultimate success (Karyasiddhim) isn't just about retrieving Sita, but doing so in a way that aligns with Rama’s intent (Ramasya matirnivista). Rama has vowed to destroy the abductor. Pre-empting that battle would rob Rama of his righteous duty. True loyalty lies in obedience to the master's will, not just in displaying one's own power.

यह रामायण का एक अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण नीतिगत श्लोक है। जाम्बवान अंगद को समझाते हैं कि "क्षमता होना" और "कार्य करना" दो अलग बातें हैं। हम सीता को ला सकते हैं (न...अक्षमा), परन्तु हमें लाना नहीं चाहिए। क्यों? क्योंकि श्रीराम ने स्वयं रावण को मारकर सीता को मुक्त कराने की प्रतिज्ञा ली है। यदि हम सीता को ले आए, तो श्रीराम की प्रतिज्ञा खंडित होगी और उनका यश कम होगा। सेवक का धर्म स्वामी की इच्छा और यश की रक्षा करना है, न कि स्वयं श्रेय लेना।
