द्रुमाद् द्रुमं केचिदभिद्रवन्ते क्षितौ नगाग्रान्निपतन्ति केचित् ।
महीतलात् केचिदुदीर्णवेगा महाद्रुमाग्राण्यभिसम्पतन्ति ।

॥५-६१-१६॥
drumād drumaṃ kecidabhidravante kṣitau nagāgrānnipatanti kecit । mahītalāt kecidudīrṇavegā mahādrumāgrāṇyabhisampatanti । । ॥5-61-16॥
Translation
Some run from tree to tree, some fall from the tree tops to the ground. Others, with great speed, leap from the ground to the tops of huge trees.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कुछ एक पेड़ से दूसरे पेड़ पर दौड़ रहे हैं, कुछ पेड़ों की चोटियों से जमीन पर गिर रहे हैं। और कुछ तीव्र वेग से जमीन से उछलकर बड़े पेड़ों की चोटियों पर पहुँच रहे हैं।
English Commentary
This verse illustrates the loss of motor control combined with hyperactive energy. While leaping is natural to monkeys, the text notes they are falling (Nipatanti) from the trees, which is unusual for their species, highlighting the severity of their intoxication. It’s a scene of kinetic chaos—vertical and horizontal movement without purpose or precision.

यहाँ वानरों की शारीरिक गतिविधियों में आए असंतुलन का चित्रण है। वानर स्वभाव से ही चंचल होते हैं, लेकिन मधु-पान के बाद उनकी यह चंचलता अनियंत्रित हो गई है। "निपतन्ति" (गिर रहे हैं) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है—आम तौर पर वानर पेड़ों से नहीं गिरते, लेकिन नशे ने उनकी नैसर्गिक क्षमता को भी प्रभावित किया है। वे ऊर्जा से भरे हैं (उदीर्णवेगा) लेकिन दिशाहीन हैं।
