गायन्तमन्यः प्रहसन्नुपैति हसन्तमन्यः प्ररुदन्नुपैति ।
रुदन्तमन्यः प्रणुदन्नुपैति नुदन्तमन्यः प्रणदन्नुपैति ।

gāyantamanyaḥ prahasannupaiti hasantamanyaḥ prarudannupaiti । rudantamanyaḥ praṇudannupaiti nudantamanyaḥ praṇadannupaiti । । ॥5-61-17॥
Translation
One approaches a singer while laughing; another approaches a laugher while weeping. One approaches a weeper and pushes him; another approaches the pusher and roars at him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कोई गा रहा है तो दूसरा उसके पास जाकर हंस रहा है; कोई हंस रहा है तो दूसरा उसके पास रोता हुआ जा रहा है। कोई रो रहा है तो दूसरा उसे धक्का दे रहा है, और कोई धक्का दे रहा है तो दूसरा (उस पर) चिल्ला रहा है।
English Commentary
Valmiki captures the emotional volatility of the intoxicated crowd. It describes a bizarre chain reaction of disparate emotions—joy, grief, aggression, and noise—intermingling without logic. The juxtaposition of someone crying approaching someone laughing highlights the absurdity of the scene. It serves as comic relief, showing the formidable warriors reduced to emotional toddlers.

यह श्लोक भावनाओं के त्वरित और तर्कहीन परिवर्तन (mood swings) का अद्भुत मनोवैज्ञानिक चित्रण है। मधु के नशे में भावनाओं का कोई तारतम्य नहीं है—हंसी, रुलाई, गायन और क्रोध सब एक साथ घटित हो रहा है। यह एक श्रृंखला प्रतिक्रिया (chain reaction) है: गायन → हास्य → रुदन → धक्का → गर्जना। कवि ने यहाँ "प्र" उपसर्ग का बार-बार प्रयोग करके क्रियाओं की तीव्रता (Intensity) दिखाई है।
