स तैः प्रवृद्धैः परिभर्त्स्यमानो वनस्य गोप्ता हरिवीरवृद्धः ।
चकार भूयो मतिमुग्रतेजा वनस्य रक्षां प्रति वानरेभ्यः ।

sa taiḥ pravṛddhaiḥ paribhartsyamāno vanasya goptā harivīravṛddhaḥ । cakāra bhūyo matimugratejā vanasya rakṣāṃ prati vānarebhyaḥ । । ॥5-61-20॥
Translation
Being mocked and threatened by those emboldened monkeys, the protector of the forest, that elder hero of monkeys (Dadhimukha), assuming fierce energy, resolved yet again to protect the forest from the monkeys.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन उद्दंड वानरों द्वारा डांटे जाने (धमकाए जाने) पर, वन के रक्षक और वानर वीरों में वृद्ध (दधिमुख) ने, और अधिक उग्र तेज धारण करके, वानरों से वन की रक्षा करने का पक्का निश्चय किया।
English Commentary
Escalation occurs. Instead of backing down before the mob, Dadhimukha's resolve hardens. The description Harivira-vriddhah (elder hero) suggests he demands respect not just for his position but his age and past service. The disrespect from the drunk soldiers insults his dignity, compelling him to adopt a fiercer stance (Ugra-teja) to defend his charge.

वानरों की संख्या और उद्दंडता देखकर दधिमुख डरता नहीं है। उल्टे, जब वानर उसका मजाक उड़ाते हैं (परिभर्त्स्यमानो), तो उसका स्वाभिमान जाग उठता है। वह 'हरिवीरवृद्धः' (बुजुर्ग और अनुभवी वीर) है, इसलिए वह पीछे हटने के बजाय 'उग्रतेजा' (प्रचंड तेज) के साथ मुकाबले के लिए तैयार होता है। यह एक कर्तव्यनिष्ठ अधिकारी की दृढ़ता है।
