Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्लवमानाः खमाप्लुत्य ततस्ते काननौकसः ।
नन्दनोपममासेदुर्वनं द्रुमलतायुतम् ।
।
॥५-६१-७॥
plavamānāḥ khamāplutya tataste kānanaukasaḥ । nandanopamamāsedurvanaṃ drumalatāyutam । । ॥5-61-7॥
Translation
Leaping through the sky, those forest-dwellers then reached that forest filled with trees and creepers, which was comparable to the Nandanavana (divine garden of Indra).
हिंदी अनुवाद
आकाश में उड़ते हुए वे वनवासी वानर, पेड़ों और लताओं से युक्त उस वन में जा पहुँचे जो (इन्द्र के) नन्दनवन के समान सुंदर था।
English Commentary
The army lands at "Madhuvana." The comparison to Nandanavana implies that this is not just a wild jungle, but a cultivated, exquisite royal garden, lush with flora (Druma-lata). After a grueling journey over the ocean and mountains, arriving at such a paradise sets the scene for the relaxation and indulgence that is about to follow. It represents a safe haven within their home territory of Kishkindha.

वानर सेना अब अपने गंतव्य पर पहुँचती है। यह किष्किन्धा के पास स्थित 'मधुवन' है। इसकी तुलना 'नन्दनवन' (स्वर्ग का उद्यान) से की गई है, जो इसकी समृद्धि और सुंदरता को दर्शाता है। "द्रुमलतायुतम्" बताता है कि यह वन फलों और फूलों से लदा हुआ है, जो थके हुए और भूखे वानरों के लिए स्वर्ग समान है। यह स्थान उनके आगामी उत्सव (party) का स्थल बनेगा।
