Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यत्तन्मधुवनं नाम सुग्रीवस्याभिरक्षितम् ।
अधृष्यं सर्वभूतानां सर्वभूतमनोहरम् ।
।
॥५-६१-८॥
yattanmadhuvanaṃ nāma sugrīvasyābhirakṣitam । adhṛṣyaṃ sarvabhūtānāṃ sarvabhūtamanoharam । । ॥5-61-8॥
Translation
That forest named Madhuvana was specifically guarded by Sugriva. It was unassailable to all beings, yet captivating to the minds of all beings.

वह 'मधुवन' नाम का वन सुग्रीव द्वारा (विशेष रूप से) सुरक्षित था। वह सभी प्राणियों के लिए अधृष्य (जिस पर आक्रमण या प्रवेश न किया जा सके) था और सभी का मन मोहने वाला था।
English Commentary
This verse establishes the conflict. Madhuvana is a royal preserve, strictly protected (Abhirakshitam) by King Sugriva. It is "unassailable" (Adhrishyam), meaning trespassing is strictly forbidden. However, it is also irresistibly beautiful (Manoharam). This sets up the tension: the Vanaras are heroes who have saved the King's honor, but they are about to violate the King's property laws due to the irresistible allure of the forest.

यहाँ मधुवन की विशेष स्थिति (status) बताई गई है। यह सुग्रीव की निजी संपत्ति (Royal Reserve) है और 'अभिरक्षितम्' (कड़ी सुरक्षा में) है। 'अधृष्यं' शब्द चेतावनी है कि यहाँ बिना अनुमति घुसना दंडनीय अपराध है। लेकिन साथ ही यह 'सर्वभूतमनोहरम्' है—इतना सुंदर कि कोई भी इसका लोभ नहीं छोड़ सकता। यह विरोधाभास—नियमों का डर बनाम भोग का लोभ—अगले घटनाक्रम का आधार है।
