यद्रक्षति महावीर्यः सदा दधिमुखः कपिः ।
मातुलः कपिमुख्यस्य सुग्रीवस्य महात्मनः ।

yadrakṣati mahāvīryaḥ sadā dadhimukhaḥ kapiḥ । mātulaḥ kapimukhyasya sugrīvasya mahātmanaḥ । । ॥5-61-9॥
Translation
Which is always guarded by the mighty Vanara named Dadhimukha, the maternal uncle of the high-souled Vanara chief, Sugriva.

English Commentary
The antagonist of this episode is introduced: Dadhimukha. His credentials are formidable—he is powerful (Mahavirya) and, crucially, he is Sugriva's maternal uncle (Matula).
