Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अपर ेवृक्षमूले तु शाखां गृह्य व्यवस्थिताः ।
अत्यर्थं च मदग्लानाः पर्णान्यास्तीर्य शेरते ।
।
॥५-६२-११॥
apare vṛkṣamūle tu śākhāṃ gṛhya vyavasthitāḥ । atyarthaṃ ca madaglānāḥ parṇānyāstīrya śerate । । ॥5-62-11॥
Translation
Others stood at the foot of trees holding onto branches. Some, excessively weary from intoxication, spread out leaves and went to sleep.

कुछ अन्य वानर पेड़ों की जड़ में शाखाओं को पकड़कर खड़े थे। और कुछ जो नशे से बहुत अधिक शिथिल (ग्लान) हो गए थे, वे पत्ते बिछाकर सो गए।
English Commentary
This verse describes the after-effects of the binge. Not everyone is fighting or playing; the depressant effects of the "madhu" (intoxicating honey/wine) are setting in. Some monkeys are so unsteady they have to hold onto tree branches for support (śākhāṃ gṛhya). Others are madaglānāḥ (exhausted or wilted by intoxication) and have made makeshift beds of leaves to sleep. This creates a realistic scene of a feast's aftermath, balancing the earlier chaotic energy with lethargy and sleep.

उत्सव के बाद की थकान और नशे का प्रभाव यहाँ वर्णित है। सभी वानर उधम नहीं मचा रहे थे; कुछ नशे के कारण सुस्त हो गए थे। 'शाखां गृह्य व्यवस्थिताः' से पता चलता है कि कुछ को खड़े रहने के लिए सहारे की जरूरत थी। 'मदग्लानाः' (मद से मुरझाए हुए/थके हुए) वानर जमीन पर पत्ते बिछाकर सो गए। यह श्लोक उत्सव की वास्तविकता को पूर्ण करता है—जहाँ अत्यधिक ऊर्जा के बाद गहरी नींद और आलस्य आता है। यह वन के वातावरण को शांत और अस्त-व्यस्त दोनों रूपों में दिखाता है।
