कृत्वा केचिद्धसन्त्यन्ये केचित् कुर्वन्ति चेतरत् ।
कृत्वा केचिद्वदन्त्यन्ये केचिद्बुद्ध्यन्ति चेतरत् ।

kṛtvā keciddhasantyanye kecit kurvanti cetarat । kṛtvā kecidvadantyanye kecidbuddhyanti cetarat । । ॥5-62-14॥
Translation
Some did things and others laughed; some did something else entirely. Some did something and spoke about it, while others understood it to mean something else.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कुछ वानर कुछ कार्य करके हँसते हैं, तो दूसरे कुछ और ही करते हैं। कुछ वानर कुछ करके (उस बारे में) बोलते हैं, तो दूसरे (सुनने वाले) उसका अर्थ कुछ और ही समझते हैं।
English Commentary
This is a masterfully constructed verse describing the cognitive confusion caused by intoxication. It highlights the disconnect between action, speech, and understanding. The actions are erratic ("some do this, others do that"), and communication has broken down. When one monkey explains his actions, the listener understands something completely different (buddhyanti cetarat). This incoherence creates a comical scene of misunderstanding and disjointed behavior, perfectly capturing the disorientation that comes with heavy drinking.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक नशे की चरम अवस्था और उससे उत्पन्न संवादहीनता (miscommunication) का अद्भुत उदाहरण है। यहाँ क्रिया और प्रतिक्रिया का तालमेल टूट गया है। कोई कुछ कर रहा है, दूसरा उस पर हँस रहा है (शायद बिना कारण)। कोई अपनी बात कह रहा है, लेकिन सुनने वाला नशे में होने के कारण उसका अर्थ का अनर्थ निकाल रहा है ('बुद्ध्यन्ति चेतरत्')। यह 'बेसिर-पैर' की बातें और हरकतें शराबी सभाओं का यथार्थवादी चित्रण हैं, जहाँ तर्क का कोई स्थान नहीं रह जाता।
