ततो दधिमुखः क्रुद्धो वनपस्तत्र वानरः ।
हतं मधुवनं श्रुत्वा सान्त्वयामास तान् हरीन् ।

Tato dadhimukhaḥ kruddho vanapastatra vānaraḥ । Hataṃ madhuvanaṃ śrutvā sāntvayāmāsa tān harīn । । ॥5-62-18॥
Translation
Then, hearing of the destruction of the Madhuvana, the forest keeper Dadhimukha became enraged and consoled those monkeys (guards).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब मधुवन के विनाश का समाचार सुनकर, उस वन के रक्षक वानर दधिमुख को बहुत क्रोध आया और उसने उन (पिटे हुए) वानरों को सांत्वना दी।
English Commentary
Dadhimukha, the warden of the grove and a senior figure (Sugriva's maternal uncle), reacts with predictable fury upon hearing of the vandalism. However, before taking action, he consoles his battered troops. This shows his leadership qualities; he validates their suffering before channeling his anger into action. The verse marks a shift in the narrative from the chaotic celebration of Angada’s group to the organized, albeit futile, resistance planned by the grove’s protectors.
हिंदी टीका
दधिमुख केवल वन का रक्षक ही नहीं, बल्कि सुग्रीव का मामा और एक वृद्ध, सम्मानित वानर भी है। अपने अधीन सेवकों की दुर्दशा और राजा की प्रिय संपत्ति (मधुवन) का नाश सुनकर उसका क्रोधित होना स्वाभाविक है। एक कुशल प्रशासक की भांति, उसने पहले अपने भयभीत सैनिकों को सांत्वना दी (सान्त्वयामास) ताकि उनका मनोबल वापस आ सके। यह श्लोक दधिमुख के चरित्र को एक जिम्मेदार अधिकारी के रूप में स्थापित करता है जो अन्याय के प्रति रोष रखता है और अपने अधीनस्थों की रक्षा करना अपना कर्तव्य समझता है।
