वृक्षस्थांश्च तलस्थांश्च वानरान् बलदर्पितान् ।
अभ्यक्रामंस्ततो वीराः पालास्तत्र सहस्रशः ।
।
॥५-६२-२४॥
Vṛkṣasthāṃśca talasthāṃśca vānarān baladarpitān । Abhyakrāmaṃstato vīrāḥ pālāstatra sahasraśaḥ । । ॥5-62-24॥
Translation
Then, those thousands of heroic guards attacked the monkeys who were arrogant with strength, some of whom were on the trees and others on the ground.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उन हजारों वीर रक्षकों ने वृक्षों पर बैठे हुए और जमीन पर खड़े हुए, बल के मद में चूर वानरों पर आक्रमण कर दिया।
English Commentary
The confrontation begins in earnest. Thousands (sahasraśaḥ) of guards launch a coordinated attack on the search party. The targets are described as being everywhere—on the trees and on the ground—and are again characterized as arrogant with strength. This verse depicts the scale of the skirmish; it is not a duel but a mass brawl involving thousands, disrupting the celebration of the southern search party.

अब पूर्ण युद्ध आरम्भ होता है। "सहस्रशः" (हजारों) रक्षकों ने एक साथ हमला बोला। आक्रमण का लक्ष्य वे वानर थे जो मद्यपान करके पेड़ों पर या जमीन पर बेसुध होकर आनंद मना रहे थे। अंगद के सैनिक "बलदर्पितान्" (शक्ति के नशे में) थे, जबकि रक्षक कर्तव्य के आवेश में थे। यह दृश्य मधुवन में मची अफरातफरी को दर्शाता है। एक तरफ उत्सव मनाती सेना और दूसरी तरफ उन्हें रोकने का प्रयास करती हजारों की रक्षक टोली।
