Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स कथंचिद्विमुक्तस्तैर्वानरैर्वानरर्षभः ।
उवाचैकान्तमाश्रित्य भृत्यान् स्वान् समुपागतान् ।

॥५-६२-३०॥
Sa kathaṃcidvimuktastairvānarairvānararṣabhaḥ । Uvācaikāntamāśritya bhṛtyān svān samupāgatān । । ॥5-62-30॥
Translation
Somehow released/escaping from those monkeys, that excellent monkey withdrew to a solitary place and spoke to his servants who had gathered around him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन वानरों द्वारा किसी तरह छोड़े जाने पर (बच निकलने पर), उस वानर श्रेष्ठ ने एकांत स्थान का आश्रय लिया और अपने पास आए हुए सेवकों से कहा।
English Commentary
Realizing the futility of direct confrontation, Dadhimukha retreats. The phrase kathaṃcidvimuktaḥ (somehow released/escaped) suggests a chaotic scramble to get away from the intoxicated mob. He retreats to a secluded spot (ekāntam) to confer with his remaining subordinates. This marks a pivotal shift in the narrative: the transition from immediate physical resistance to seeking higher intervention. Dadhimukha is defeated as a warrior but remains active as the warden, ready to escalate the issue to the King.

अंततः दधिमुख को यह स्वीकार करना पड़ा कि वह बलपूर्वक इन वानरों को नहीं रोक सकता। "कथंचिद्विमुक्तः" (किसी तरह मुक्त होकर/बचकर) वाक्यांश बताता है कि उसे वहां से जान बचाकर निकलना पड़ा। अब वह रणनीति बदलता है। वह "एकान्तमाश्रित्य" (एकांत में जाकर) अपने बचे हुए सैनिकों (भृत्यान्) को इकट्ठा करता है। यह एक समझदार सेनापति का लक्षण है जो हारने पर व्यर्थ प्राण नहीं गंवाता, बल्कि पुनर्गठन (regroup) करके अगली योजना बनाता है। अब संघर्ष शारीरिक से प्रशासनिक स्तर पर जाने वाला है।
